Bald Eagles and Vultures

A month ago we took a day trip along the Mississippi River, reaching Alma, Wisconsin before we returned home.  It was one of the last of our unseasonably warm days.  We were looking for bald eagles and not surprisingly, found them.

It was a gray day but the sun was still bright through the clouds.  This eagle is flying over a narrow part of the Mississippi just below Lake Pepin.

This is another view of the bottom lands of the upper river.

This fellow make be a turkey vulture - a bird of the dead - but it is one of the great fliers.  They are often soaring over the landscape, in this case the wet lands near the river.
