I've been going through my dad's 120 mm color slides from 1956 or perhaps late 1955. I was seven years old at the time. Everyone likes pictures of themselves - and I figure prominently in a number of them - but photos are crisp and their is no way of mistaking the time for now.
This is my sister Winifred and I in what I think was early 1956. This park still exists in Winona, Minnesota.
Kids are still fascinated with running water. I'm fairly sure we didn't fall in.
We clearly had been enjoying the snow.
This must have been a different day but by all appearances, the same year.
This is a good picture of what appears to be a new sled.
This by all appearances was in late winter in early 1956. My sister, called Winkie then, and I sit with the unknown boy in the middle.
This is the shot that allows me to date these pictures. My mother is holding what I'm sure is my younger sister, Becky, in a blanket. That's what convinces me that this was in late 1955 or - my guess - early 1956. We are shown with our parents and the family car.
My dad has changed placed my mother's brother, Walter 'Jack' Hoffman. I was small enough when these photographs were taken and it was 56 years ago so my memories are dim, but they flood back when I see these.
